About August J. Landi

August Landi brings over 50 years of experience to the practice of family law. He has personally represented clients in over 2,500 divorce cases. He has innovated in the field of Alternate Dispute Resolution and is considered to be the first attorney in the State of New Jersey regularly engaged in mediation, commencing in 1975. His objectivity, insight, legal skills, and advocacy abilities result in referrals from legal professionals, present and former clients, and practitioners within the psychological community.

August J. Landi is a lifetime resident of New Jersey. Raised in Bergen County, he attended Dwight-Englewood High School (1953-1957), Colgate University (1957-1961), and Columbia University Law School to earn his a Juris Doctorate Degree. After school, he worked as a Law Assistant to the Honorable Joseph W. Marini, and Conrad Schneider, both judges of the Superior Court in Bergen County (1965-1966). August also served in the United States Armed Forces 1966 - 1971, as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps. He served as managing Attorney Ocean Monmouth Legal Services 1972-1977 and has worked in private practice with offices in the Red Bank area since 1978.

August is appointed as a guardian pursuit to count rule (5: 8  overseeing the welfare of children in family court.

Mediation and Arbitration Services

In addition to a traditional family law practice, Mr. Landi has an active mediation and arbitration practice. He routinely offers advice and counsel to colleagues upon request. He has guest lectured the Family Court judges of this State on the subject of Arbitration and has also provided the Bench, Bar, and public with a copy of the NJ Arbitration handbook he authored, which was printed by the Administrative Offices of the Court.

Extensive Experience Throughout New Jersey

August is an Early Settlement Panelist for the Court's of Monmouth County. He has been selected by his peers to serve as an arbitrator to resolve contentious equitable distribution, alimonychild support and related issues in lieu of trial on the merits. Mr. Landi maintains an active appellate practice and has appeared in the New Jersey Supreme Court, as well as appellate courts of this State. He has handled high asset cases, with as much as $250,000,000 at issue. He is a past member of the Supreme Court committee on Alternate Dispute Resolution and maintains current membership on the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Monmouth County Bar Association.
